What is Natural Stone

Natural Stone is any naturally occurring solid mass or aggregate of minerals or mineraloid matter. It is categorized by its mineral and chemical composition, and by the way it is formed. It is quarried from the earth and shaped into the variety of uses such as sculptors, flooring, walls and more.

Types of Natural Stone Commonly Used

Some commonly used types of stone include: Marble, Granite, Slate, Limestone, Soapstone, and Travertine.

Granite

Granite is a type of natural stone which is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. It is one of the most popular natural stones available and is known for its durability, hardness, and for its unique textures and finishes.

Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock (formed with intense heat and pressure) most commonly composed of calcite or dolomite. Marble is typically not foliated (layered), although there are exceptions.. Another popular type, some of the worlds most famous sculptors are created from white marble! It is known for its elegance and attractiveness and has a wide range of modern uses including floors, walls and countertops.

Limestone

Limestone is a type of sedimentary stone which is the main source of the material lime. It is known for its durability and diversity, and is used in my ways such as walkways, walls floors and more!

Slate

Slate is a fine-grained, foliated (layered), natural stone derived from an original shale-type sedimentary stone. A highly durable stone, it is used commonly used in high traffic areas and is very resistant to staining.

Soapstone

Soapstone is a type of metamorphic rock (formed with intense heat and pressure) composed largely of the mineral talc. Soapstone is a softer to touch type of stone and is commonly used in for flooring and pool coping.

Travertine

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited around mineral springs. It often has white, tan, cream-colored, and even rusty varieties. Travertine is one of the most frequently used stones in modern architecture. It is commonly used for flooring, patio flooring, spa walls and ceilings, façades, and wall cladding.

Natural Stone Uses

Although there are endless ways to use Natural Stone, it is most typically used for; Flooring, Walkways, Walls (Full bed or Veneer), Fireplaces, Patios, Pools, Counter Tops, Landscaping and Roofing
